I had the same thought, but then felt that a Par 3 is gentle enough (smile)!

The Brainerd Lakes area of Minnesota is starting to fill up with fantastic par 3 courses in the heart of vacation land; what a treat. I'd like to see Cragun's do some work on their reversible par 3 route, however -- it's a fantastic idea but poorly executed, in my view. Too small greens and unimaginative holes. Now if Grand View Lodge can be bothered to get back to giving its courses the attention and customer service they used to have, we'd be really living.

Is there any guidance from the ownership, or Andy Staples style/preference about whether #1 should be a gentle handshake or a firm test?

Good stuff Joseph! It's fun to re-live these types of moments. An honest question for people who are willing to answer...is Sergio the most punchable pro golfer of the last 20 years?

Appreciate the link, Garrett! Watching the play out there on Sunday only served to reinforce my thoughts, even if the cross bunkers on 2 were mostly* out of play. I only saw a couple of groups on 4-5-6, but in that I witnessed Stew Hagestad get a little greedy on 5 and caught by the corner bunker, leading to a loss of hole, and one player on 6 taking what looked like an ideal middle line off the tee, only to be blocked out by the trees down left on their second. Even if these guys are "lapping" the some of the key bunkers that matter to us mortals, they were still finding some of the main predicaments set forth by MacKenzie. Cool stuff. * "mostly" because those who pulled drives left down the cliff would sometimes have to lay back short of them

Really enjoyed the podcast on Napoleon GC last year and looking forward to see what all they can get done out there! The photo above gives the impression there is a good property to work with

Looking forward to one day playing Cobbs Creek. Those site photos are terrific. Also agree that the work going on at Woodhill in Minneapolis looks fantastic!
